The only negatives to this refrigerator are the flimsy main fridge drawer and the difficult-to-use right main door latch. LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
LG counter-depth refrigerators pack a lot of storage in small footprints. They're also priced lower than conventional-depth French door fridges and can eliminate the requirement for a separate under-counter freezer. The LG Smart Mirror InstaView counter-depth refrigerator (LMWC23626S) isn't an exception with the capacity of a standard fridge in an elegant, modern design, with an integrated dispenser for easy access to the water filter.
This model's exterior showcases a fingerprint-resistant stainless steel finish and a mirrored InstaView panel that adds to the modern look of the interior. The door bins are spacious, and the top right shelf can be folded down to create a half-depth shelf that allows taller items to fit. The bottom of the fridge has a set of more crisp drawers, and the deli drawer that is full width is ideal for meat or fresh produce.
A recessible ice maker is located on the back of the refrigerator. This helps to save space and makes it easier to store an extra bag of ice. The refrigerator is equipped with a door-cooling system, which uses vents in the freezer and fridge doors to let cold air enter the refrigerator. It prevents hot spots and keeps an even temperature throughout the refrigerator.
This LG refrigerator was a standout in our tests and has plenty of space to ensure that your family is well-fed, but it does have some quirks that we found irritating. First, the freezer drawers don't remain as cold as we would like. The temperature of the middle drawer was 41° during our maximum use test, which is enough to freeze ice cream or other frozen food items. The temperature in the rest of your freezer remained at about 36 degrees.
The doors of refrigerators also have handles with sunken handles that are difficult for shorter people to close. It may seem like a minor issue, but we prefer front mounted handles on refrigerators to make them easier to open and shut.
This refrigerator is expensive, but it's worth the investment for anyone looking to have an ultra-modern appearance in their kitchen. We recommend this fridge for those looking to upgrade their refrigerator or for those who are building a new house and want to have a seamless design in the kitchen.
Samsung Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
The RF23M8090SG is Samsung's latest and fanciest counter-depth French door refrigerator that retails at $4,200. It's a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It also performs well in our cooling tests, although we're not a fan of its polygon handles that are gimmicky and the bins with a crisper design appear a bit fragile.

One thing that sets the RF23M8090SG apart is the Bespoke line which lets you personalize your fridge using removable color panels that can be swapped whenever you get tired of the current ones. There are 11 color options that range from soft pastels to more vibrant hues, and four metallic finishes. Some of these panels can be customized with text or photos which makes the fridge a more personal touch point that will match your tie-dye Crocs, Rick Owens dress or Andy Warhol banana neon sign.
The LED lighting can be altered to a different hue, which is a nice feature. The interior of the fridge has a smart finish which reduces the chance of smudges, and also makes cleaning simpler. The only downsides of the RF23M8090SG are its slightly cramped beverage center and some learning curve when it comes to opening the door-indoor feature that houses a water jug and dispenser. You have to feel for an opening on the side of the door that is halfway across, and once you do, it opens another door inside the fridge that contains the pitcher docking station, the water dispenser and two shelves for drinks.
The 6.8 cubic foot freezer compartment is big enough to hold a large amount of frozen food items. It also comes with the slide-out drawer, which allows you to access the food you want without opening the entire compartment. The freezer also comes with an ice-cream bin style compartment to store small items, and a large capacity storage drawer to store larger quantities of frozen food. This drawer is locked with a password, ensuring that anyone who isn't a good fit is kept out. It also comes with an efficient LED to help you see what's inside at an instant. The freezer's also able to monitor energy consumption and help you reduce your power bill with the SmartThings that are smart and enabled with Energy mode.
Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
French door refrigerators are a wonderful addition to any kitchen. They are sleek and are a great fit for all sizes of rooms. If you want the convenience of this style without the additional height, a counter-depth fridge is the way to go. We've tried a variety of models, and this Frigidaire model has earned a high score in our ratings due to its affordable price and thoughtful features, such as an adjustable temperature drawer.
However, it also has a few minor problems. Our tests show that the FGHB2866PF can heat up quite a lot in the freezer and become uncomfortable hot in the hottest shelves of the fridge. Our heat maps show how temperature fluctuates minute-by-minute. The orange area on the upper right corner, which is the butter bin, has been particularly warm throughout our testing period. It might not appear too awful at first glance however, it means that the fridge is spending a significant part of the time at 33 degrees.
It's also worth mentioning that the FGHB2866PF isn't an Energy Star-certified model, which could be important for certain buyers. The issue is that it's just not a particularly great fridge, and the lack of modern features and durable construction make it hard to recommend over more expensive options at this price point.
In many ways, this Frigidaire feels like the stainless-steel version of a fridge you might see at the local appliance store. It's a safe option with a smooth finish that looks great and is impervious to smudges, but it doesn't stand out or set itself apart from competitors with more features and less expensive.
If french style fridge freezer seeking a counter-depth French door fridge but don't want to spend an excessive amount of money, the FGHC2331PF could be worth a look. It's got enough storage to meet the needs of most families and does an excellent job keeping food fresh. Even even if it's not a green unit, it's still a lot cheaper than our top-rated models.
